Final Reflection (30A)
The End, or Should We Say Beginning?
After reading through my posts from the semester, it is so funny to even see how much I have changed. My view on the world and on my school is very different. Even my writing is different. This semester has been very challenging and it’s very interesting to see how some of those experiences were processed through these assignments/blog posts.
- My most formative experience was learning how to identity opportunities. I remember being thoroughly confused in beginning because I didn’t understand opportunity was synonymous to problem/issue. Once I learned that, it completely changed my mindset.
- I will always remember how excited I was to share my blog posts with my family and friends and feeling unashamed to do so because I was proud and passionate of my work product and my venture.
- I most enjoyed writing about my “Entrepreneurship Story” in the very beginning of the class because I am thankful to remember where I come from and look forward to how my past will shape my future. AND I loved the 4A assignment because I loved exploring that topic.
- I am most proud of myself for the amount of effort I gave to my posts. Although it took me much more time to complete, when I tried my best I felt more proud of my work product.
At the end of this class, I most definitely see myself as more of an entrepreneur, nevertheless, I still have much more room to grow and learn. I think I have learned that is it okay, even good, to fail because it teaches you just as much as success does, sometimes even more. And I can improve upon these failures to make my venture even better. In taking this class, I have decided along with my declared major of Public Relations and minor in Nonprofit Management, I am going to minor in Entrepreneurship to keep expanding my knowledge and skills in regards to entrepreneurship so that by the time I graduate, I will be mobilized, equipped, and ready to open The Mount Coffeehouse.
To future students I would advise above all to create a venture that you are actually passionate about. It make take a while to realize and come up with but if you do the research and steps in the beginning in learning to identity opportunities, the rest of the course will be much more enjoyable because you are developing something you actually love. If you create something that is just kind of a side thing, it will turn into a drudgery assignment; an obligation instead of an opportunity. I also think that while it is important to think of yourself and how you will profit—because we all need to make money—but also consider how you can help your local community or the global community in creating something that is sustainable and beneficial to a market that you care for. To foster an entrepreneurial mindset, as I did, I hope you can begin to see failure as just as important as success. Adopt a growth mindset over a fixed mindset because it will propel you further exploration without the fear of making mistakes. Mistakes are a part of life; embrace and learn from them!
I am so thankful for this course teaching me so much and providing me a platform to EXPLORE and begin this adventure of creating The Mount Coffeehouse!

Hi Juliana,
ReplyDeleteThis semester has been a whirlwind, but i enjoyed seeing your idea grow. You got a lot of potential with this idea, and i hope you can pursue it one day. Being a barista is great knowledge for building a future coffee shop as well, because you learn how to run things, and work things.
Best
Chloe
